Tanya Singer is a media industry veteran with a passion for knitting, teaching, and social justice. She currently serves on the Board of Green Bronx Machine, a non-profit organization with a school-based classroom gardening program for students, where she first taught children to knit. Tanya runs Ewe Can Knit, a knitting lesson business in Westchester County, NY, where she teaches adults and children starting at age 8. Tanya trains other knitters to teach children to knit both via Vogue Knitting Live and Ewe Can Knit.

Tanya started Knitting Hope, a project that highlights the stories of people who were sustained or even saved by handknit items throughout history.

Tanya is an alumna of Wellesley College in Wellesley, Massachusetts, where her “little sister” was the first person to teach her to knit. Tanya picked up her needles again to help her through her son’s (successful) brain surgery in 2017, and has been knitting ever since.
