She photographs for yarn companies, books, magazines, brands and designers. She is the photographer for 20+ book titles and is proud to be the co-author of three knitting/craft books: DROP DEAD EASY KNITS with Kirsten Kapur & Mary Lou Egan, CRAFT ACTIVISM and SHEAR SPIRIT , both with Joan Tapper, all published by Random House/Clarkson Potter. Gale started her career as a photojournalist. For many years she worked on assignment for The New York Times and major magazines. While her client list shifted, she still believes in the narrative power of photography to tell a story. Her images create connection and evoke emotions. Based in coastal Connecticut , when not working Gale can be found down the street on the beach, swimming or knitting. Her dream commission? Shooting shawls modeled by the Weeki Watchee Springs mermaids. ....it could happen, right?
