Description

THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 23, 2021

9:30PM - 11:30PM EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME

In this course you will learn a technique I created that produces waves of color that simulate sand art, even geologic strata. Together we will work German Short Rows (GSRs) into stockinette without rhyme and with a little reason. Think of it as almost stream of consciousness knitting. This technique allows for color creativity, playing loud colors against softer tones, vibrant hues against neutrals, neons against pastels, building colorway upon colorway, giving the fabric visual movement.

Supplies needed for the class

  • Yarn: Choose at least 3 colorways in either fingering, sport or DK. And, if desired, grab some mohair or suri lace to hold together with any or all of these yarns. Minis and yarn leftover from previous projects are ideal for this project. Yarn amount will vary, depending on the desired length of cowl.
  • Needles: depending on yarn weight of choice, you will need US3 (3.25mm), US4 (3.5mm), US5 (3.75mm), US6 (4mm)
  • Scissor
  • Crochet (optional): used to pick up any dropped stitches

Homework for the class

Depending on yarn weight: fingering/mohair held together or sport weight: US3 (3.25mm) or US4 (3.5mm) cast on 100sts dk held single: US4 (3.5mm) or US5 (3.75mm) cast on 90sts Join the in the round, placing marker for BOR. Work 8 rnds of 1x1 twisted rib (k1tbl, p1) Then go up a needle size and knit 2 rnds Now you are ready for class.
