Learn a relatively unused technique of Double Brioche patterning, discover various ways of adapting and customizing it for your style of knitting, creating incredibly elastic fabric and its use in knitwear. Students will create a flat swatch featuring solid and two-color 2x2 Brioche rib technique as well as learn about special ways of working it in the round, and increasing and decreasing concepts developed by Olga using this stitch pattern. Students can choose to further their explorations into Double Brioche by knitting Juko Cowl, Sento Shawl, or Oru Hat (these patterns are not included in the class).

Skills needed: knowing how to work basic brioche

Skills learned:

  • How to work Brioche and Tuck techniques simultaneously in the same pattern flat
  • Learn how to work them in solid or bicolor and how to work this pattern flat
  • How to increase in 2x2 Brioche rib
  • How to decrease in 2x2 Brioche rib

Materials

  • Approx. 300 yds of DK weight yarn in 2 colors each, choose contrasting light or bright colors, avoid dark colors for swatching during the class
  • US 4 (3.5 mm), US 5 (3.75 mm) circular, 24"
  • Crochet hook size D (3 mm) or E (3.5 mm)
  • Cable needle (CN)
  • Removable stitch marker or safety pin
